The magic of winter takes you to over 150 kilometers of superbly maintained
cross-country ski trails just outside our door, and downhill skiing at ski resorts within a
five to fifteen minutes drive. Take a winter snow coach trip up the Mount Washington Auto Road,
snowmobile through trails with breathtaking mountain views or gather up the entire family for a fun-filled day of snow tubing. Just through the covered bridge you can also
spend a Victorian afternoon ice skating, sleigh riding, snowshoeing through trails, or sitting by a
bonfire while roasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate in a Victorian gazebo at Nestlenook Farm.
The beauty of the White Mountains comes alive during springtime. You can enjoy hot
air balloon rides or the thrill of whitewater canoeing, kayaking, and, of course, there's plenty of spring skiing.
Life is a little more leisurely at this time of year where you'll find we're the ideal headquarters for
experiencing the emergence of spring in the White Mountains.
In summer, just a short walk through the covered bridge, brings you to an 18-hole
PGA golf course and the cascades of Jackson Falls, a cooling refresher on a hot day as well as a
favorite spot for a picnic lunch. Just one mile down the road is Story Land and Santa's Village just
minutes away, are both well known for bringing out the "kid" in all of us. Horseback riding, alpine/water
slides, gondola rides, summer theatres, festivals of performing arts and special events are within a
gas-saving few minutes drive. The favorite Mount Washington Auto Road is one of the valley's most
stunning attractions just fifteen minutes away. Breathtaking waterfalls and endless mountaintop vistas
are just a short hike away, with plenty of challenging trails for the more adventurous visitor.
Fall offers an especially invigorating and visually exciting stay in Jackson, with vibrant
carpets of color rolling from one mountain to another. Turn right from our driveway and head for the
breathtaking fall scenery in Pinkham Notch, or make a round trip through Crawford Notch and back.
The magnificent Scenic Railroad and Cog Railway, just minutes away, are wonderful during this time
of year.
For enjoyment in every season, Jackson Village and the surrounding valley abound with
artist owned galleries, specialty shops, and the famous factory outlets that always tempt guests to stay
another day! Sample a different restaurant every night, from a casual outdoor cafe to an elegant gourmet
presentation. Whether your tastes tend toward a live theatre production or to an evening in a local
entertainment pub, it's all here. There's a variety to keep you coming back to the Covered Bridge River View
Lodge every season!
